Are you a passionate advocate for literacy, information access, and technological integration in education? Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain a diverse and relevant collection of print and digital resources, ensuring alignment with curriculum needs and student interests.
- Instruct students and faculty on information literacy, research methodologies, digital citizenship, and ethical use of information.
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources and information skills into classroom instruction and project-based learning.
- Develop and implement engaging library programs, events, and initiatives to promote reading, media literacy, and a love for learning.
- Oversee the cataloging, classification, circulation, and maintenance of all library materials.
- Provide guidance and support to students and staff in utilizing library technology and digital learning tools.
- Create and maintain an inviting, accessible, and well-organized library environment.
- Stay current with best practices in library science, educational technology, and children's/young adult literature.
- Manage the library budget and procure new resources effectively.
Required Skills
- Master's Degree in Library Science (MLS/MLIS) from an ALA-accredited program OR Master's Degree in Education with a Library Science endorsement/certification.
- Valid Louisiana Teacher's Certificate with School Librarian endorsement (or eligibility to obtain).
- Strong knowledge of library management systems and digital resources.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire and engage students of all ages.
- Proficiency in integrating technology into educational practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and parents.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a School Librarian or Assistant Librarian in a K-12 setting.
- Experience with various educational technology platforms and tools (e.g., Google Workspace for Education, learning management systems).
- Familiarity with collection development best practices for diverse student populations.
- Active participation in professional library or educational organizations.
