We are seeking dedicated and hardworking Road Workers to join our team in Margate, KwaZulu-Natal. As a Road Worker, you will play a crucial role in various aspects of road construction, maintenance, and repair, ensuring safe and durable transportation routes for the community. Key Responsibilities
- Perform manual labour tasks such as digging, shovelling, raking, and spreading asphalt, gravel, and other materials.
- Assist with the preparation and laying of new road surfaces, including pothole patching and crack sealing.
- Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools, including jackhammers, plate compactors, and concrete mixers.
- Set up traffic control devices, signs, and barricades to ensure the safety of both workers and the public.
- Clean and prepare work sites, ensuring all debris and waste materials are properly removed and disposed of.
- Assist with the installation and repair of road drainage systems, culverts, and storm drains.
- Perform general maintenance on construction equipment and tools as directed.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Work effectively as part of a team, communicating clearly and collaborating to achieve project goals.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of materials from trucks and other vehicles.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding manual labour tasks.
- Ability to work effectively outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
- Basic understanding of construction site safety procedures and protocols.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work as part of a team.
- Basic communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (at least 6 months) in road construction, general labour, or a similar outdoor physical role.
- Knowledge of basic road construction materials and techniques.
- Valid Code B (08) driver's license.
- First Aid certification.
- Relevant safety training certifications (e.g., Working at Heights, Confined Space).
