The Place Restaurant is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant with a focus on food preparation to join our bustling team in Ikeja, Lagos. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the smooth operation of our kitchen, working closely with our experienced chefs to ensure all ingredients are meticulously prepared for cooking. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks, from cleaning and organizing workstations to peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients, ensuring a consistent flow of high-quality produce for our delicious meals. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform extensive food preparation tasks including washing, peeling, chopping, and dicing a variety of vegetables, fruits, and meats.
  • Assist senior chefs in the preparation of dishes, following precise recipes and instructions.
  • Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness and organization, including washing dishes, sanitizing workstations, and cleaning kitchen equipment.
  • Ensure proper storage and rotation of food items to minimize waste and uphold food safety standards.
  • Support inventory management by receiving and stocking supplies, and notifying management of low stock levels.
  • Operate basic kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, such as blenders, choppers, and food processors.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Assist with waste disposal and recycling efforts.
  • Contribute to a positive and cooperative team environment, readily assisting colleagues as needed.

Required Skills

  • Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques (chopping, slicing, peeling)
  • Understanding of kitchen hygiene and food safety practices
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment

Preferred Qualifications
