Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and reliable Restaurant Cleaner to join our dedicated team, specifically for night shifts, focusing on the meticulous cleaning and sanitation of our kitchen and dining areas. This critical role ensures that our culinary spaces meet stringent hygiene standards, preparing them for the next day’s operations. The ideal candidate will be committed to maintaining a spotless environment, understanding the importance of cleanliness in a food service setting. You will be responsible for a thorough clean-up after daily closing, handling all necessary cleaning equipment and chemicals safely, and contributing to the overall pristine condition of the Cultural Centre’s restaurant facilities. Your attention to detail and ability to work independently during night hours will be key to your success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Thoroughly clean and sanitize all kitchen surfaces, including countertops, stoves, ovens, fryers, and sinks.
- Wash and sanitize dishes, cutlery, glassware, and cooking utensils using appropriate methods and machinery.
- Clean and disinfect dining tables, chairs, floors, and other public areas of the restaurant, including restrooms.
- Empty trash receptacles, manage recycling, and ensure proper waste disposal according to established procedures.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, mops, vacuums, and dishwashers safely and efficiently.
- Restock cleaning supplies, toiletries, and paper products, reporting any equipment malfunctions or supply shortages to management.
- Adhere strictly to health, safety, and sanitation guidelines set by local regulations and the Cultural Centre, maintaining accurate cleaning logs.
- Perform deep cleaning tasks periodically, as scheduled by the supervisor.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to follow detailed cleaning instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining exceptionally high hygiene standards.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift moderately heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic, especially for night shifts.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively without direct supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 6 months of professional cleaning experience, preferably in a restaurant, hotel, or other hospitality setting.
- Basic understanding of Kinyarwanda for effective communication with team members.
- Knowledge of various cleaning chemicals and proper safety procedures.
- Experience with operating commercial cleaning equipment.
