Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Remote Welder to join our dynamic team. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and meticulously review Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) in strict accordance with industry codes (e.g., AWS, ASME, ISO).
- Provide expert technical guidance, mentorship, and troubleshooting support to on-site welding teams via virtual meetings, detailed documentation, and advanced digital communication platforms.
- Perform remote review and in-depth analysis of welding designs, blueprints, and structural drawings to ensure absolute compliance with project requirements and industry best practices.
- Conduct virtual quality control inspections by meticulously reviewing photographs, videos, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) reports, and other digital documentation of ongoing and completed welding activities.
- Diagnose and remotely troubleshoot complex welding defects, offering innovative and practical solutions to optimize processes and significantly improve weld integrity.
- Collaborate actively with engineering and project management teams on critical aspects such as material selection, joint design optimization, and fabrication sequencing.
- Develop and implement engaging remote training modules and workshops for on-site welding personnel to continuously enhance their skills and ensure strict adherence to all standards.
- Stay abreast of advancements in welding technology, materials, and processes, recommending innovative solutions for remote implementation to maintain our competitive edge.
- Ensure all remote welding-related documentation is meticulously maintained, organized, and easily accessible for audit and reference.
- Contribute proactively to the continuous improvement of welding practices, efficiency, and safety protocols across all G & H Fabrications projects.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Welder, Welding Inspector, or Welding Specialist (minimum 7 years).
- In-depth knowledge of various welding processes (e.g., SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW) and associated equipment.
- Strong understanding of welding metallurgy, material properties, and their behavior during welding and fabrication.
- Proficiency in interpreting complex blueprints, welding symbols, and intricate technical specifications.
- Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, ISO 9606).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for highly effective remote collaboration.
- Proficiency with digital collaboration tools (e.g., video conferencing, project management software, cloud-based document sharing).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and manage time effectively in a fully remote setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or an equivalent certification (e.g., SAQCC, IWI).
- Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
- Demonstrable experience with CAD software for design review and modification.
- Familiarity with robotic welding systems and their remote programming/monitoring capabilities.
- Previous experience in a remote technical support or advisory role within a fabrication or engineering environment.
- Project management experience in a metal fabrication or construction environment.
