  • Manage and mentor the on-site vineyard team, providing guidance on daily tasks, pest and disease management, irrigation scheduling, pruning, and canopy management techniques.
  • Analyze vineyard performance data, identify trends, and provide timely recommendations for interventions and improvements to the Winemaker and Estate Manager.
  • Oversee the implementation of sustainable viticultural practices, ensuring environmental stewardship and long-term vineyard health.
  • Prepare detailed reports on vineyard conditions, progress, and projections for grape quality and harvest timing.
  • Stay abreast of the latest viticultural research, technologies, and industry best practices, integrating relevant innovations into our operations.
  • Collaborate closely with the Winemaker to ensure grape ripeness and characteristics meet winemaking specifications.
  • Develop and manage vineyard budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations without compromising quality.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated expertise in sustainable vineyard management practices.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills to manage and collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to vineyard challenges.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote work environment, with a commitment to regular on-site presence.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel frequently to the Riebeek Valley.
  • In-depth knowledge of Western Cape viticultural conditions and challenges.
