While physically based remotely, you will play a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance and efficiency of our advanced solar PV power plants located across the Northern Cape, including key assets near Brandvlei. As a Remote Solar Plant Operator, you will be at the forefront of operational excellence, utilizing cutting-edge Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, advanced meteorological data, and sophisticated data analytics tools to monitor, control, and troubleshoot our solar assets in real-time. Key Responsibilities
- Perform continuous real-time monitoring of solar PV plant performance using SCADA systems and other analytical tools.
- Proactively identify and diagnose operational anomalies, alarms, and potential faults from a remote location.
- Coordinate effectively with on-site field operations and maintenance teams to schedule and execute corrective actions.
- Conduct preliminary troubleshooting and guide on-site personnel through initial diagnostic steps.
- Generate comprehensive daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports, analyzing trends and identifying areas for optimization.
- Ensure strict adherence to operational protocols, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
- Optimize plant output and efficiency by adjusting operational parameters remotely as required.
- Maintain accurate operational logs, incident reports, and documentation.
- Participate in root cause analysis for significant plant incidents and suggest preventive measures.
- Communicate effectively with engineers, management, and other stakeholders regarding plant status and performance.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in SCADA systems for renewable energy (specifically solar PV)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for remote diagnostics
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English)
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment
- Solid understanding of solar PV plant operations, components, and performance metrics
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for data analysis and reporting
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems and safety procedures
