Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough remote damage assessments of vehicles based on provided photographic and video evidence, identifying all necessary repairs.
- Develop detailed, accurate, and cost-effective repair plans in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and industry best practices.
- Generate precise repair estimates using industry-standard software, including parts, labour, and materials.
- Provide expert technical consultation and guidance to on-site panel beaters and spray painters regarding complex repairs, new techniques, and quality control.
- Perform remote quality assurance checks on ongoing and completed repair work by reviewing documentation, images, and video submissions.
- Collaborate effectively with workshop managers, claims departments, and customers through virtual communication channels.
- Stay abreast of the latest automotive repair technologies, materials, and OEM procedures, integrating new knowledge into remote assessments and consultations.
- Contribute to the development of best practices and training materials for the on-site team.
- Maintain meticulous records of all assessments, estimates, and consultations.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a qualified Panel Beater.
- In-depth knowledge of vehicle body repair techniques, structural components, and automotive materials.
- Proven ability to accurately assess vehicle damage from digital documentation (photos/videos).
- Strong proficiency in generating detailed repair estimates using industry-specific software (e.g., Audatex, Synchro, TMS).
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced proficiency with remote collaboration and communication tools (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, project management platforms).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant trade qualification (e.g., NQF Level 4 in Panel Beating, or equivalent international certification).
- Certifications in specific OEM repair procedures (e.g., BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Ford).
- Experience with 3D scanning or advanced damage analysis tools.
- Previous experience in a supervisory, quality assurance, or estimating role within an automotive repair setting.
- A valid South African driver's license.
