Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive remote assessments of patients' physical, cognitive, and psychosocial functioning to identify rehabilitation needs.
- Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based rehabilitation treatment plans tailored to patient goals and conditions, utilizing telehealth technologies.
- Provide virtual therapeutic interventions, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech therapy, as per specialist qualification.
- Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as necessary, and document all interactions and outcomes accurately and timeously.
- Educate patients and their families on rehabilitation techniques, self-management strategies, and prevention of re-injury.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including doctors, nurses, and other therapists, through virtual communication channels.
- Maintain strict adherence to ethical guidelines, professional standards, and patient confidentiality.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay abreast of the latest advancements in rehabilitation science and telehealth practices.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant rehabilitation field (e.g., Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology).
- Valid registration with the relevant professional council in South Africa (e.g., HPCSA).
