Key Responsibilities
- Design, prepare, and deliver engaging, interactive virtual lessons aligned with the South African National Curriculum (CAPS) for primary school grades (Grade R – Grade 7).
- Utilize a variety of digital educational tools, platforms, and resources to enhance student learning and engagement in a remote setting.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback through virtual channels.
- Develop and implement individualized learning plans when necessary, accommodating diverse learning styles and needs in an online environment.
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and supportive virtual classroom atmosphere that encourages active participation and collaboration.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with students, parents/guardians, and school administration via email, video calls, and other digital communication tools.
- Manage virtual classroom behavior and dynamics, ensuring a productive and respectful online learning space.
- Participate in online professional development sessions, team meetings, and virtual school events.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on student performance and progress for parents and administration.
- Stay updated with best practices in online pedagogy and digital educational technologies.
Required Skills
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) or equivalent qualification (e.g., PGCE with relevant undergraduate degree).
- Valid SACE registration.
- Minimum of 2 years of demonstrable experience in primary school teaching (Grade R – Grade 7).
- Proficiency in utilizing various online learning platforms (e.g., Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, Zoom) and educational software.
- Exceptional written and and verbal communication skills, especially in a virtual context.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to manage a remote workload effectively.
