Job Description
PowerSouth Energy Cooperative is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This is a fully remote position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to contribute to critical projects from anywhere in the US. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, proven experience in project management, and a dedication to delivering high-quality work. This role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams, conducting feasibility studies, developing designs, overseeing construction, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. You’ll be instrumental in designing and implementing efficient, cost-effective, and safe solutions for our energy infrastructure. The candidate will have significant opportunity to learn and grow within a dynamic and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement mechanical systems and components for power generation and distribution.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses for proposed projects.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
- Oversee the construction and installation of mechanical equipment.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project objectives.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and industry best practices.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant CAD software
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer
- Experience with project management methodologies
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience with mechanical design software such as SolidWorks or Inventor
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional engineering license (PE)
- Experience in the power generation or distribution industry
- Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME)
- Experience with 3D modeling and simulation software
