Key Responsibilities
- Execute precise cutting, skiving, and preparation of various leather types according to design specifications and patterns.
- Perform expert hand and machine stitching, ensuring durability, consistency, and aesthetic appeal in all finished products.
- Apply various finishing techniques including edge painting, burnishing, dyeing, and hardware installation to exacting standards.
- Conduct thorough quality control checks at every stage of the production process, identifying and rectifying any imperfections.
- Interpret complex design blueprints and translate them into finished leather products with high accuracy and artistic integrity.
- Manage personal workshop inventory of raw materials, tools, and consumables, coordinating resupply needs with the central team.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe home workspace that adheres to industry best practices and personal safety standards.
- Collaborate effectively and regularly with the design team through virtual communication tools (video calls, shared documents, email).
- Provide valuable input on material selection, design feasibility, and production efficiency to optimize product development.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise (minimum 3 years) in all fundamental leather crafting techniques: cutting, skiving, stitching (hand and machine), and finishing.
- Proficiency with a comprehensive range of leather crafting tools and machinery, including skiving machines, sewing machines, and various hand tools.
- Strong understanding of different leather types, their properties, characteristics, and best uses for various applications.
