Job Description

PathCare is seeking a dedicated and meticulous Remote Lab Technician with a strong focus on Data Management and Quality Assurance to join our dynamic team. This unique remote position is designed for an individual who possesses exceptional analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to manage complex laboratory data and quality control processes from a home-based setup. You will be instrumental in maintaining our high standards of quality by remotely monitoring, auditing, and processing laboratory information system (LIMS) data, assisting with the validation of results, and ensuring compliance with national and international regulatory guidelines. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform remote analysis and interpretation of laboratory data generated from various diagnostic platforms.
  • Monitor and manage laboratory information system (LIMS) data entries, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and integrity.
  • Conduct virtual audits of laboratory procedures and documentation for quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of remote quality control protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Generate and review detailed reports on laboratory performance, data trends, and quality metrics.
  • Provide remote technical support and troubleshooting assistance related to data queries and LIMS functionality.
  • Participate in virtual team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure strict adherence to patient confidentiality and data security protocols.
  • Collaborate with on-site laboratory staff, pathologists, and IT teams through virtual communication channels.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in laboratory technology and regulatory requirements relevant to remote data management.

Required Skills

  • National Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Pathology, or a related scientific field.
  • Minimum of 36 months (3 years) of proven experience in a medical laboratory environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and data analysis software.
  • Excellent understanding of quality control, quality assurance principles, and regulatory compliance (e.g., ISO 15189, SANAS).
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for remote collaboration.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Technologist.
  • Experience with remote data management platforms or virtual laboratory environments.
  • Additional certifications in Quality Management Systems.
  • Familiarity with various diagnostic instrumentation and their data outputs.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing SOPs.
