Key Responsibilities
- Perform remote analysis and interpretation of laboratory data generated from various diagnostic platforms.
- Monitor and manage laboratory information system (LIMS) data entries, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and integrity.
- Conduct virtual audits of laboratory procedures and documentation for quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
- Assist in the development and implementation of remote quality control protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Generate and review detailed reports on laboratory performance, data trends, and quality metrics.
- Provide remote technical support and troubleshooting assistance related to data queries and LIMS functionality.
- Participate in virtual team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure strict adherence to patient confidentiality and data security protocols.
- Collaborate with on-site laboratory staff, pathologists, and IT teams through virtual communication channels.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in laboratory technology and regulatory requirements relevant to remote data management.
Required Skills
- National Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Pathology, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum of 36 months (3 years) of proven experience in a medical laboratory environment.
- Strong proficiency in Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and data analysis software.
- Excellent understanding of quality control, quality assurance principles, and regulatory compliance (e.g., ISO 15189, SANAS).
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for remote collaboration.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Technologist.
- Experience with remote data management platforms or virtual laboratory environments.
- Additional certifications in Quality Management Systems.
- Familiarity with various diagnostic instrumentation and their data outputs.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing SOPs.
