Job Description
We are seeking an innovative and results-driven Hotel General Manager to strategically lead our Port Alfred operations from a remote base. This unique opportunity is designed for a strategic leader who can effectively manage and inspire a high-performing team using cutting-edge remote collaboration tools and a strong focus on outcomes. While the role is remotely based, you will be responsible for the overall success and strategic direction of The Royal St. Andrews Hotel, ensuring our commitment to exceptional guest service, operational excellence, and financial performance is upheld. You will leverage technology to oversee daily operations, guide departmental managers, analyze performance metrics, and implement strategic initiatives to drive growth and profitability. This position requires a visionary leader capable of maintaining a strong virtual presence, fostering team cohesion, and developing robust remote operational frameworks that support our on-site teams. Key Responsibilities
- Remotely oversee all aspects of hotel operations, ensuring adherence to brand standards and guest satisfaction.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve financial objectives, including budget management, revenue generation, and cost control, through remote monitoring and guidance.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a diverse on-site management team (Heads of Department) using virtual communication and performance management tools.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and guest feedback to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation in service delivery and product offerings.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and regulatory requirements through remote audits and on-site team accountability.
- Drive strong guest relations and loyalty programs, addressing feedback and ensuring a superior guest experience from a strategic oversight perspective.
- Implement and optimize technology solutions for operational efficiency, guest engagement, and remote team collaboration.
- Conduct regular virtual meetings with department heads to review performance, set goals, and provide guidance.
- Foster a positive and productive work environment, even across distributed teams, promoting continuous improvement and professional development.
- Strategic oversight of marketing and sales initiatives to maximize occupancy and average daily rate.
- Travel to the hotel premises in Port Alfred as needed for critical meetings, audits, and strategic initiatives (e.g., quarterly, or as required).
Required Skills
- Proven experience (5+ years) in hotel management, with at least 2 years in a General Manager or senior leadership role.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage diverse teams remotely, utilizing modern communication and collaboration tools.
- Exceptional financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and revenue management.
- Strong understanding of hospitality operations, sales, marketing, and guest service principles.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and virtual presentation skills.
- Proficiency in hotel management software (PMS), CRM systems, and virtual meeting platforms.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- High level of adaptability and comfort with a dynamic, remote work environment.
