Job Description
VKB is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Remote Fodder Production Manager to strategically oversee and optimize our fodder production initiatives across the Free State region. This critical role is designed for a self-starter who excels in a remote work environment, leveraging technology and strong organizational skills to manage diverse fodder streams from planning to delivery. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing cutting-edge strategies for silage, hay, hydroponic fodder, and pasture management, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective, and sustainable feed solutions for our farming community. You will be instrumental in identifying and integrating new technologies and methodologies to enhance efficiency and yield.
This position requires a deep understanding of animal nutrition, agricultural best practices, and supply chain logistics, all managed from a remote base. You will coordinate with farm managers, agricultural experts, and suppliers to ensure seamless execution, monitor production performance, and analyze data to drive continuous improvement. Your leadership will guide and support on-site teams through remote communication and occasional strategic site visits. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic plans for all fodder production streams, including silage, hay, hydroponics, and pasture management.
- Oversee the entire fodder production cycle from cultivation/growth to harvesting, storage, and distribution.
- Monitor production efficiency, quality control, and cost-effectiveness of fodder programs through remote data analysis and reporting.
- Utilize remote collaboration tools to coordinate with on-site farm teams, agronomists, and external partners.
- Manage budgets, resource allocation, and procurement for fodder production inputs.
- Identify, evaluate, and integrate new technologies and innovative practices in fodder production.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant agricultural regulations, environmental standards, and VKB's internal policies.
- Provide technical guidance and support to farm managers and staff on best practices in fodder management.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide strategic recommendations for improvement.
- Prepare detailed reports on production metrics, inventory, quality, and financial performance.
