Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive remote farm management strategies and operational plans for diverse agricultural ventures.
- Utilize remote monitoring tools, GIS, and data analytics to track farm performance, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions regarding crop management, livestock, and resource allocation.
- Oversee budget planning, financial forecasting, and cost control for various farm operations, ensuring fiscal responsibility and optimizing profitability.
- Coordinate effectively with on-site farm supervisors, technical staff, and field teams through virtual meetings and communication platforms to ensure efficient execution of daily tasks and long-term projects.
- Manage supplier relationships, procurement of agricultural inputs, and negotiate contracts remotely to ensure timely delivery, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure strict compliance with all relevant agricultural legislation, environmental regulations, biosecurity protocols, and occupational health & safety standards.
- Prepare detailed reports on farm productivity, financial performance, resource utilization, and operational challenges for senior management and stakeholders.
- Implement sustainable farming practices, promote biodiversity, and explore innovative agricultural technologies to enhance efficiency and environmental stewardship.
- Provide remote training, guidance, and support to on-site personnel on new techniques, equipment operation, and best agricultural practices.
- Conduct periodic, strategic on-site visits to assess conditions, build relationships, oversee critical projects, and provide direct support when necessary.
- Monitor market trends, commodity prices, and weather patterns to inform strategic decisions and mitigate risks.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in agricultural management or a related senior farming role.
- Demonstrable expertise in crop production (e.g., citrus, deciduous fruits, vegetables) and/or livestock management (e.g., cattle, sheep).
- Strong understanding of modern farming techniques, agricultural technology, and sustainable practices.
- Proficiency in agricultural management software, remote monitoring tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent financial acumen with proven experience in budget management, cost control, and financial reporting.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective remote team collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects in a remote work environment.
- Valid South African driver's license and willingness to travel for occasional site visits.
Preferred Qualifications
