Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Remote Dairy Production Supervisor to join our dedicated team. This unique role, while predominantly remote, is critical for overseeing the operational efficiency, quality control, and animal welfare standards across our dairy farms in the Western Cape region. You will leverage cutting-edge technology, data analytics, and virtual communication tools to monitor daily production, coordinate on-site teams, and ensure adherence to Klipheuwel Melkery’s stringent standards. Your expertise will be vital in identifying areas for improvement, implementing best practices, and driving continuous enhancement in milk production, herd health, and overall farm management from a strategic, remote vantage point. This role demands a proactive leader with exceptional analytical skills, a deep understanding of dairy operations, and the ability to inspire and manage teams remotely. While the core work model is remote, occasional on-site visits for audits, strategic planning, or urgent problem-solving may be required to maintain a comprehensive understanding of physical operations. Key Responsibilities
- Remotely monitor daily dairy production metrics, including milk yield, quality, herd health, and feed consumption, using digital platforms and IoT data.
- Develop and implement remote operational protocols and best practices for dairy production, ensuring compliance with company standards and industry regulations.
- Supervise and coordinate on-site farm teams through virtual meetings, communication platforms, and regular check-ins, providing guidance and support.
- Analyze performance data to identify trends, potential issues, and opportunities for improvement in efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and animal welfare.
- Conduct virtual audits of farm operations, equipment maintenance, and hygiene standards, providing feedback and corrective actions to on-site managers.
- Assist in the remote planning and optimization of feeding schedules, breeding programs, and veterinary care protocols.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on production performance, challenges, and proposed solutions for senior management.
- Ensure strict adherence to biosecurity measures and sustainable farming practices across all supervised operations.
- Facilitate training and development for on-site staff through remote learning modules and virtual workshops.
- Collaborate with other supervisors and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of strategies and objectives across the organization.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in dairy farm management or production supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a remote supervisory capacity, utilizing digital tools and platforms.
- Strong understanding of dairy herd health, nutrition, breeding, and milking parlor operations.
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation, with experience using farm management software.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and virtual team leadership skills.
