Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Remote Cider Production Specialist to join our dynamic team. This unique role is designed for an individual who can leverage their profound knowledge of cider making processes, quality control, and innovation from a remote setting, offering strategic insights and technical guidance to optimize our ‘Cluver & Jack Cider’ production. While the primary mode of work will be remote, allowing for flexibility and a focus on analytical and strategic contributions, this specialist will occasionally be required to visit our Elgin facility for critical project phases, new product launches, or complex troubleshooting.
Your expertise will be instrumental in enhancing our cider quality, streamlining production workflows, and developing new, exciting cider profiles that resonate with market demands. You will be responsible for overseeing data-driven quality assurance protocols, refining fermentation processes, and ensuring compliance with industry standards, all while working collaboratively with our on-site production team and management. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement remote monitoring and data analysis protocols for cider production, including fermentation, blending, and packaging.
- Provide expert remote guidance and support to the on-site production team on best practices for cider making, troubleshooting, and process optimization.
- Formulate new cider recipes and experimental batches, including ingredient sourcing recommendations, flavor profiling, and stability testing, to drive innovation.
- Establish and maintain stringent remote quality control standards, ensuring product consistency, sensory attributes, and compliance with all relevant food safety and beverage regulations.
- Conduct regular remote reviews of production data, identifying areas for efficiency improvements, cost reduction, and waste minimization.
- Manage relationships with key suppliers for raw materials (apples, yeast, adjuncts) through remote communication and performance evaluation.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, process documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for cider production.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and regulatory changes in cider production, translating insights into actionable strategies.
- Facilitate training and knowledge transfer to the on-site team on advanced cider production techniques and quality control measures.
- Participate in occasional on-site visits to the Elgin facility for critical production runs, new equipment commissioning, or strategic planning meetings.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in cider or winemaking production, with a strong emphasis on fermentation science.
- In-depth knowledge of quality control methodologies, sensory evaluation, and laboratory analysis techniques for beverages.
- Proficiency in data analysis and experience with production management software or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective remote collaboration and report generation.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and demonstrate proactive initiative in a remote work environment.
- Understanding of food safety regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
