Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain accurate financial records for multiple assigned clients using cloud-based accounting software.
- Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing, collections, and vendor payments.
- Perform bank reconciliations and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded.
- Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring proper classification of expenses and revenues.
- Generate financial statements (e.g., income statements, balance sheets) on a regular basis.
- Assist with payroll processing and related statutory submissions (e.g., PAYE, UIF, SDL).
- Prepare and submit VAT returns accurately and on time.
- Collaborate with clients to gather necessary financial documentation and provide clear, concise financial explanations.
- Ensure compliance with South African financial regulations and tax laws.
- Provide proactive support and advice to clients on best bookkeeping practices.
- Communicate effectively with clients and the Naleli Accounting Services team regarding financial matters.
- Assist with year-end closing procedures and provide necessary documentation to external auditors/accountants.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar financial role.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping best practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks Online, Sage Business Cloud Accounting).
- Excellent data entry skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Solid knowledge of South African tax regulations (VAT, PAYE) and compliance requirements.
- Ability to manage multiple clients and prioritize tasks effectively in a remote setting.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (e.g., National Diploma, BCom).
- Certification from a recognized accounting body (e.g., SAIPA, SAICA Associate).
