We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and experienced Remote Accountant to join our dynamic team. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the daily accounting operations for an assigned portfolio of clients.
- Prepare and analyse comprehensive financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, strictly in accordance with IFRS for SMEs.
- Ensure complete compliance with all relevant South African tax laws (VAT, PAYE, Income Tax) and submit timely and accurate returns.
- Reconcile bank statements, ledger accounts, and ensure the absolute accuracy and integrity of all financial data.
- Process client payroll accurately, adhering to all statutory requirements and client-specific conditions.
- Assist clients with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning activities.
- Conduct internal reviews and diligently prepare for all external audit processes.
- Provide proactive financial advice and strategic insights to clients to support their optimal business decisions.
- Maintain accurate, organised, and confidential financial records and documentation.
- Utilise various accounting software (e.g., Sage Pastel, Xero, QuickBooks) efficiently for diverse tasks.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with clients and internal teams regarding financial matters and queries.
- Continuously monitor and stay updated with changes in accounting standards, tax legislation, and industry best practices.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) as an Accountant, preferably within an accounting firm environment.
- Strong, demonstrable knowledge of South African accounting principles (IFRS for SMEs) and tax legislation.
- Proficiency in leading accounting software platforms (e.g., Sage Pastel, Xero, QuickBooks).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical decision-making skills.
- High level of accuracy, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to precision.
- Exceptional organisational and time management abilities, particularly in a remote working environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
