Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Sort various recyclable materials (e.g., plastics, paper, glass, metals) on a conveyor belt or at designated stations.
  • Operate and monitor machinery and equipment used in the recycling process, such as balers, compactors, or sorting machines, under supervision.
  • Perform general clean-up and maintenance of the work area to ensure a safe and organized environment.
  • Identify and remove contaminants or non-recyclable items from the material stream.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Assist with loading and unloading materials as required.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or process issues to supervisors promptly.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve daily production and sorting targets.

Required Skills

  • Physical stamina and ability to perform repetitive tasks, lift moderate weights, and stand for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail to accurately identify and sort materials.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to all operational procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • Basic understanding of environmental awareness and the importance of recycling.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a waste management, manufacturing, or industrial setting.
  • Knowledge of different types of recyclable materials.
  • Forklift operator certification (an advantage but not essential, training can be provided).
  • Basic communication skills in French.
