Career.supersecrets is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Record Label A&R Coordinator to join our vibrant team in Stellenbosch. This pivotal role is perfect for a proactive individual with an innate passion for music and a keen ear for emerging talent. As an A&R Coordinator, you will be instrumental in the artist discovery and development process, acting as a crucial bridge between artists and our label. You will support the A&R team in all aspects of scouting, evaluating, and signing new artists, as well as managing ongoing projects with our existing roster. This position demands a blend of creative insight, meticulous organization, and strong interpersonal skills, ensuring that our artists receive the support and resources they need to thrive. You’ll engage with demos, attend live shows, analyze market trends, and maintain a finger on the pulse of the music industry. Key Responsibilities
- Scout, identify, and evaluate new musical talent through various channels, including demo submissions, live performances, social media, and industry networks.
- Manage and organize the A&R demo submission process, providing timely and constructive feedback to artists.
- Assist the A&R team with artist development, project coordination, and release scheduling.
- Conduct thorough market research and competitor analysis to identify new trends and opportunities within the music industry.
- Maintain comprehensive databases of artists, contacts, and industry intelligence.
- Liaise effectively with artists, managers, producers, and internal departments (Marketing, Legal, Production).
- Prepare and present scouting reports, artist profiles, and project updates to the A&R management.
- Support the negotiation and execution of recording agreements and other artist-related contracts.
- Attend industry events, showcases, and conferences to network and represent the label.
- Assist in budget tracking and administrative tasks related to A&R projects.
Required Skills
- Exceptional ear for music across diverse genres and a deep understanding of current music trends.
- Proven experience in the music industry, preferably within A&R, artist management, or music publishing.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in music production software and digital audio workstations (DAWs) is a plus.
- Solid understanding of digital music platforms, social media, and their role in artist discovery and promotion.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Business, Arts Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
- Experience with CRM software and project management tools.
- Proficiency in Afrikaans or another relevant South African language.
