Key Responsibilities
- Scout and identify promising new musical talent across various genres, both locally and regionally, through demos, live performances, and digital platforms.
- Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with artists, acting as their primary point of contact for creative and project-related matters.
- Coordinate and oversee all aspects of artist development projects, including demo recording, song selection, studio bookings, and scheduling.
- Facilitate communication between artists, producers, engineers, and other internal/external stakeholders to ensure projects stay on track and within budget.
- Assist in the administrative tasks related to A&R, such as maintaining artist databases, tracking project timelines, and managing expense reports.
- Conduct market research and stay abreast of current music trends, competitor activities, and industry developments, especially within the South African context.
- Participate in creative meetings, providing input on song arrangements, production choices, and overall artistic direction.
- Support the negotiation and execution of artist agreements, ensuring all contractual obligations are met.
- Attend live showcases, industry events, and networking functions to expand talent pipeline and industry connections.
Required Skills
- Proven knowledge and passion for the contemporary music industry, particularly in South Africa.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse personalities.
