Key Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of diagnostic imaging procedures, including X-ray, Fluoroscopy, Computed Tomography (CT), and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), in accordance with established departmental protocols and national guidelines.
- Ensure the highest level of patient safety, comfort, and dignity throughout all imaging procedures, providing clear and concise explanations to patients to alleviate anxiety and secure cooperation.
- Operate and maintain complex imaging equipment, performing routine quality control checks and minor troubleshooting to ensure optimal functionality and image output.
- Accurately position patients for various examinations, selecting appropriate imaging parameters and techniques to achieve diagnostic quality images with minimal radiation dose.
- Maintain meticulous and accurate patient records, imaging logs, and contribute to the archiving of images and data in compliance with hospital policies and data protection regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with radiologists, medical doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated patient care and accurate diagnostic reporting.
- Strictly adhere to all radiation safety regulations, departmental policies, and infection control standards to protect both patients and staff.
- Actively participate in continuous professional development, attending training sessions, workshops, and seminars to stay abreast of advancements in diagnostic imaging technology and techniques.
- Assist in the training and supervision of junior radiographers, student radiographers, and other support staff, fostering a culture of learning and professional growth.
- Manage and troubleshoot minor equipment issues, reporting major malfunctions promptly to the appropriate engineering or maintenance department.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Radiography/Radiological Sciences from a recognized institution.
- Current and valid professional license to practice as a Radiographer in Nigeria.
- Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in a diagnostic imaging department.
- Proficiency in operating X-ray, Fluoroscopy, CT, and MRI equipment.
- Strong knowledge of radiation protection principles and patient safety protocols.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centered approach.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Radiography or a related field.
- Specialization or advanced certification in a specific imaging modality (e.g., CT, MRI, Ultrasound).
- Experience with Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) and Radiology Information Systems (RIS).
- Familiarity with hospital accreditation standards and quality assurance programs.
- Previous experience in a busy public hospital or a similar high-volume diagnostic centre.
