As a Quality Control Officer, you will be on the front lines, ensuring that every product leaving our facility meets Nestle’s rigorous global quality standards, as well as local regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for implementing and monitoring quality assurance protocols throughout the entire production lifecycle, from raw material inspection to final product release. This includes conducting thorough analyses, maintaining accurate documentation, and proactively identifying and addressing potential quality deviations. Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive quality checks on incoming raw materials, in-process samples, and finished food products against established specifications.
- Conduct sensory, physical, chemical, and microbiological analyses using standard laboratory equipment and procedures.
- Monitor critical control points (CCPs) and operational prerequisite programs (OPRPs) in accordance with HACCP principles.
- Ensure strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Hygiene Practices (GHP), and other food safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all quality control tests, results, and observations.
- Identify, investigate, and report any non-conformances, out-of-specification results, or quality deviations, initiating corrective and preventive actions.
- Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
- Participate in internal and external audits (e.g., ISO 22000, FSSC 22000) and ensure compliance.
- Provide feedback to production teams on quality issues and collaborate on process improvements.
- Assist in training production staff on quality procedures and food safety awareness.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the quality department.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree or HND in Food Science & Technology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Industrial Chemistry, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and regulations (e.g., HACCP, ISO 22000).
- Proficiency in laboratory analytical techniques and equipment operation.
- Excellent attention to detail and observational skills.
- Ability to accurately record and interpret data.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
Preferred Qualifications
- HACCP certification.
- Experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles in a food production environment.
- Knowledge of Nigerian food regulatory bodies and requirements (e.g., NAFDAC).
- Post-graduate diploma or Master's degree in a relevant field.
