Job Description
VKB Group is seeking a dedicated and meticulous Quality Control Inspector to join our Agri-processing team in Ikgomotseng, Free State. This pivotal role is essential in upholding the highest standards of product quality and food safety across our processing operations. As a Quality Control Inspector, you will be on the front lines, ensuring that all raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods meet stringent internal specifications and external regulatory requirements. You will conduct regular inspections, perform detailed tests, document findings, and collaborate with production teams to identify and resolve potential quality issues promptly. Key Responsibilities
- Perform regular quality inspections of incoming raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods against established specifications and quality standards.
- Conduct sensory, physical, and chemical tests on samples using standard laboratory procedures and equipment, adhering to strict testing protocols.
- Monitor production processes to ensure strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and hygiene regulations.
- Accurately record and report all inspection and test results, maintaining detailed and organized documentation for traceability and audit purposes.
- Identify, quarantine, and report non-conforming products or processes, initiating corrective actions and follow-ups where necessary to prevent recurrence.
- Calibrate and maintain QC testing equipment to ensure accuracy, reliability, and proper functioning.
- Collaborate effectively with production, operations, and management teams to implement quality improvements and address deviations proactively.
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant national and international food safety regulations, industry standards (e.g., HACCP, ISO 22000), and company quality policies.
- Assist in internal and external audits related to quality and food safety systems.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) in Quality Control within a food manufacturing or agri-processing environment.
- Strong understanding of food safety principles and systems (e.g., HACCP, GMP, PRP's).
- Excellent attention to detail, observational skills, and analytical capabilities.
- Proficiency in accurate data recording, reporting, and basic analytical techniques.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively as part of a diverse team.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
- Problem-solving aptitude and the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
- Basic computer literacy (MS Office Suite).
Preferred Qualifications
- National Diploma or Degree in Food Technology, Agricultural Science, Microbiology, or a related scientific field.
- Experience with laboratory equipment and instrumentation commonly used in agri-processing.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 22000 quality management systems.
- Valid driver's license and own reliable transport.
- Previous experience with a Quality Management System (QMS) software.
