Job Description
Senwes Ltd. is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Quality Control Assistant to join our team in Tswelopele, Free State. As a Quality Control Assistant, you will be instrumental in ensuring that our food and agricultural products consistently meet the highest industry standards and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with our production and quality assurance teams, conducting essential checks, tests, and documentation to maintain stringent quality protocols. Your daily activities will involve inspecting raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods, identifying potential issues, and implementing corrective actions under supervision. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine quality checks on incoming raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods in accordance with established protocols and specifications.
- Conduct physical, chemical, and sensory evaluations of food products to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Monitor critical control points (CCPs) and operational prerequisites (OPRPs) within the production process.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all quality control tests, inspections, and observations.
- Identify and report non-conforming products or processes promptly to the Quality Control Manager.
- Assist in the investigation of quality-related issues and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment used for quality testing.
- Adhere strictly to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP principles, and other relevant food safety regulations.
- Support the development and revision of quality control procedures and work instructions.
- Collaborate effectively with production staff to resolve quality issues and promote a culture of quality.
- Participate in internal and external audits as required.
Required Skills
- Matric/Grade 12 certificate.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a quality control or assurance role, preferably within the food or agricultural industry.
- Basic understanding of food safety principles (HACCP, GMP).
- Strong attention to detail and excellent observational skills.
- Ability to perform accurate measurements and basic laboratory tests.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (MS Office Suite).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of relevant South African food regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- National Diploma or Certificate in Food Technology, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field.
- Experience with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 22000).
- Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
- Driver's license.
