Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Public Sector Accountant to join our esteemed finance team at Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC). Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports in accordance with Kuwaiti public sector accounting standards and company policies.
- Assist in the preparation, monitoring, and analysis of organizational budgets, ensuring adherence to allocated funds and reporting variances.
- Manage general ledger accounts, including reconciliations, journal entries, and accurate classification of transactions.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant government regulations, financial policies, and internal control procedures.
- Support internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation, explanations, and analysis.
- Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate transactions.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and control.
- Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and operational improvements.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
- Provide financial insights and reports to senior management on the fiscal performance of various projects and departments.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in public sector accounting or financial management within a large organization.
- In-depth knowledge of public sector accounting principles, government budgeting, and financial reporting standards (e.g., IPSAS).
- Proficiency in financial software and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle Financials).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and Arabic.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of internal controls and regulatory compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Professional accounting certification (CPA, ACCA, CMA).
