Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Public Relations Officer to join our dedicated team at Latvijas Sarkanais Krusts. This pivotal role involves shaping and managing the public image of our organization, communicating our humanitarian mission and impact effectively to diverse audiences. You will be instrumental in developing and executing comprehensive PR strategies that raise awareness about our initiatives, attract support, and foster a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable communities in Latvia and beyond. The Public Relations Officer will be the primary point of contact for media inquiries, responsible for crafting compelling narratives, press releases, and digital content that resonate with our stakeholders, including the public, donors, government entities, and partner organizations. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive public relations strategies aligned with the organization's mission and objectives.
- Manage all media relations, including proactive pitching, responding to inquiries, and facilitating interviews.
- Draft and edit compelling press releases, media kits, newsletters, and other communication materials.
- Create engaging content for various channels, including the website, social media, and annual reports.
- Monitor media coverage, analyze PR campaign effectiveness, and report on key performance indicators.
- Organize and manage public events, press conferences, and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with journalists, media outlets, and key influencers.
- Support internal communications to ensure staff and volunteers are informed and aligned with organizational messages.
- Contribute to crisis communication planning and execution as part of the broader team.
- Collaborate with fundraising and program teams to create communication materials that support their objectives.
- Advocate for the Latvian Red Cross's humanitarian work and values across all communication platforms.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) in public relations, communications, or media relations, preferably within an NGO or humanitarian context.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Latvian and English.
- Strong media relations acumen with a demonstrated ability to secure media coverage.
- Proficiency in creating engaging content for traditional and digital platforms.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency with PR tools and social media management platforms.
- Understanding of the principles and practices of humanitarian aid and non-profit organizations.
Preferred Qualifications
