The successful candidate will be expected to prepare work sites thoroughly, including cleaning, scraping, sanding, patching, and applying primer to various surfaces such as walls, ceilings, and other structural elements. You will be adept at selecting and mixing paints to achieve desired colors and consistencies, and proficient in using a range of tools including brushes, rollers, and spray guns with expertise. Protection of surrounding areas, including flooring, fixtures, and furniture, through masking and covering, is paramount to maintain a clean and professional work environment. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare various surfaces for painting, including cleaning, scraping, sanding, patching, and priming.
- Apply paint, varnish, stain, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment with precision.
- Mix and match paint colors accurately to achieve desired shades and consistencies according to project specifications.
- Erect scaffolding, ladders, and other working platforms safely and according to safety regulations.
- Protect adjacent surfaces, furniture, and fixtures from paint splatters and damage through masking and covering.
- Perform decorative painting techniques, such as faux finishes, murals, or wallpaper installation, as required by project scope.
- Inspect finished work meticulously for quality, ensuring smooth application, uniform coverage, and adherence to specifications.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and best practices at all times on job sites.
- Maintain and clean tools, equipment, and work areas regularly, ensuring they are in good working order for future use.
- Collaborate effectively and communicate clearly with other tradespeople, project managers, and clients.
- Ensure timely completion of all painting and decorating tasks within established project schedules and deadlines.
- Identify and report any potential hazards or issues on site to the project manager promptly.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) as a Painter and Decorator in construction or renovation environments.
- Proficiency in all surface preparation techniques (sanding, scraping, patching, cleaning, priming).
- Expertise in applying various types of paint, stains, varnishes, and other finishes.
- Skilled in using a range of painting tools including brushes, rollers, and paint spraying equipment.
- Strong understanding of color theory, paint mixing, and matching.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively as part of a team.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, flawless finishes.
- Comprehensive knowledge of safety procedures, equipment, and materials handling.
- Physical stamina, dexterity, and the ability to work at heights or in confined spaces when necessary.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to various job sites within the North West region.
