Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled, compassionate, and dedicated Professional Nurse to join our dynamic team at Idutywa Hospital. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide exceptional patient care within a hybrid work model, blending crucial on-site clinical duties with flexible administrative or educational tasks that support our healthcare delivery system. As a Professional Nurse, you will be at the forefront of patient care, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing interventions for a diverse patient population. Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, accurately documenting all actions.
- Monitor and observe patient conditions, recording vital signs, and reporting changes to the medical team.
- Collaborate with doctors, other nurses, and healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and self-care techniques.
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and confidential patient records.
- Ensure a safe and clean environment for patients and staff, adhering to infection control policies and procedures.
- Participate in ward rounds, clinical meetings, and contribute to interdisciplinary patient care discussions.
- Supervise and mentor junior nursing staff, student nurses, and support personnel.
- Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives and professional development programs.
- Perform administrative and planning tasks, which may include report generation, training development, or policy review, with flexibility for remote completion as approved.
- Adhere to all legal, ethical, and professional nursing standards and guidelines.
Required Skills
- Valid SANC (South African Nursing Council) registration as a Professional Nurse.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 3 years of post-basic nursing experience in a clinical setting.
- Proven ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in clinical procedures and patient monitoring.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient safety and quality care.
- Basic computer literacy for record-keeping and communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-basic qualification in a specialized nursing field (e.g., Critical Care, Midwifery, Psychiatry).
- Experience in a public health sector hospital.
- Fluency in isiXhosa or other local languages.
- Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) or basic life support (BLS) certification.
