Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial buses or taxis on designated routes, strictly adhering to all traffic laws, company policies, and route schedules.
- Prioritize and ensure the comfort, security, and well-being of all passengers throughout every journey.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the assigned vehicle, promptly identifying and reporting any mechanical defects, maintenance needs, or safety concerns.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of trips completed, fuel consumption, passenger manifests, and any incidents encountered.
- Provide exemplary customer service, courteously assisting passengers with luggage handling, seating, and addressing inquiries or concerns in a professional and helpful manner.
- Ensure timely departures and arrivals, managing routes efficiently to minimize unforeseen delays and optimize travel times.
- Uphold the highest standards of cleanliness and operational readiness for the assigned vehicle at all times.
- Be capable of handling minor roadside emergencies, such as tire changes or basic troubleshooting, safely and effectively when necessary.
- Ensure strict compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations and licensing requirements.
- Actively participate in mandatory ongoing training programs, safety refreshers, and professional development initiatives provided by the company.
Required Skills
- Valid Class E/F Driver's License (or equivalent commercial driver's license in Nigeria) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 3 years of verifiable professional driving experience in commercial bus, taxi, or heavy-duty vehicle operations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Nigerian road networks, with particular emphasis on routes within Edo State and surrounding regions.
- Profound understanding and strict adherence to all road safety regulations and defensive driving techniques.
- Demonstrated proficiency in basic vehicle maintenance, pre-trip inspections, and minor troubleshooting.
- Exceptional customer service orientation, coupled with clear and effective communication skills.
- Proven ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as operational demands require.
- Possession of a high level of integrity, punctuality, reliability, and a strong sense of responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications
- A valid Defensive Driving Certificate or other advanced driving certifications from accredited institutions.
- Prior experience driving for a reputable interstate transport or logistics company in Nigeria.
- Familiarity with modern GPS navigation systems and route optimization tools.
- Proficiency in local Edo dialects (e.g., Esan, Bini, Etsako) in addition to fluent English, to better serve diverse passenger needs.
- Possession of a Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent.
