Job Description
National Foods Limited is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Production Supervisor to join our robust food processing plant in Harare. This pivotal role involves overseeing daily production operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety standards are consistently met within our fast-paced manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily production activities across assigned lines, ensuring optimal resource utilization and adherence to production schedules.
- Monitor product quality, ensuring compliance with company standards, food safety regulations (HACCP, ISO 22000), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Lead, mentor, and train production staff, fostering a positive work environment, promoting continuous skill development, and ensuring adherence to company policies.
- Implement and enforce health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
- Identify and troubleshoot operational issues, implementing corrective actions swiftly to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
- Prepare and maintain accurate production records, reports, and performance metrics for management review and decision-making.
- Collaborate effectively with other departments (Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Supply Chain) to optimize processes and achieve overall operational goals.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and consistently improve product quality and consistency.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in a supervisory role within a food processing or FMCG manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding and practical application of food safety standards (HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000).
- Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in production planning, scheduling, and resource allocation techniques.
- Solid problem-solving abilities and a proactive, analytical approach to operational challenges.
- Ability to work effectively and maintain composure in a fast-paced, high-pressure manufacturing setting.
- Computer literacy, including intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma in Food Science, Production Management, Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma).
- Prior experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems in a manufacturing context.
- Valid First Aid and Safety certification.
- Fluency in local languages (e.g., Shona, Ndebele) in addition to English.
