Job Description

Nampak is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Production Line Supervisor to join our dynamic manufacturing team in Bryanston, Gauteng. This critical role involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of a designated production line, ensuring optimal efficiency, quality, and safety standards are consistently met. The Production Line Supervisor will be responsible for leading a team of production operators, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. You will be instrumental in scheduling production, allocating resources effectively, monitoring performance metrics, and swiftly addressing any operational challenges that may arise. This position demands a keen eye for detail, strong leadership capabilities, and a commitment to achieving production targets while adhering strictly to company policies and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of production line workers, ensuring adherence to production schedules and quality standards.
  • Monitor production output, adjust workflows, and reallocate resources as needed to meet daily targets and deadlines.
  • Enforce safety regulations and company policies, ensuring a safe working environment for all team members.
  • Conduct regular quality checks on products to ensure they meet specifications and troubleshoot any issues proactively.
  • Train new employees and provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to the production team.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
  • Maintain accurate production records, including downtime, output, and quality control data.
  • Collaborate with other supervisors and departments (e.g., maintenance, quality control, logistics) to optimize overall plant operations.
  • Perform minor equipment maintenance and coordinate with maintenance staff for larger repairs.
  • Prepare daily production reports and communicate operational status to management.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Production Supervisor or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes, safety protocols, and quality control standards.
  • Proficiency in using production management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Sound knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Production Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certifications in Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems relevant to manufacturing.
  • First Aid and Safety Officer certification.
