Job Description

As a Procurement Officer within POSCO’s dynamic manufacturing operations, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless flow of critical materials and services essential for our world-class production processes. This position demands a strategic thinker with a keen understanding of global supply chain dynamics, cost optimization, and sophisticated vendor relationship management within a large-scale industrial environment. You will be responsible for end-to-end procurement activities, encompassing everything from identifying reliable domestic and international suppliers and negotiating highly favorable terms to meticulously managing contracts and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality goods and services. Your contributions will directly impact our operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and the unwavering quality of our final products, thereby supporting POSCO’s sustained global leadership in steel manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute end-to-end procurement processes, including sourcing, tendering, negotiation, and contract management for raw materials, components, MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) supplies, and services critical to manufacturing.
  • Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans to optimize cost, quality, and delivery, ensuring alignment with POSCO's production schedules and operational goals.
  • Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers globally, conducting thorough due diligence to assess capabilities, reliability, and adherence to quality standards.
  • Negotiate favorable terms, conditions, and pricing with suppliers to achieve significant cost savings while maintaining high-quality input materials and services.
  • Manage and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, monitoring performance, resolving issues, and fostering long-term partnerships.
  • Monitor market trends, raw material prices, and supplier performance to identify potential risks and opportunities for strategic advantage.
  • Collaborate closely with internal departments such as Production, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Finance to understand procurement needs and ensure timely fulfillment.
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, ethical standards, and relevant international trade regulations.
  • Utilize ERP systems (e.g., SAP) for purchase order processing, contract management, and data analysis to drive efficiency and transparency.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects aimed at process improvement, cost reduction, and supply chain optimization.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in procurement, supply chain, or sourcing roles within the manufacturing sector.
  • Proven negotiation and contract management skills with a track record of achieving cost savings and favorable terms.
  • Strong analytical skills, with proficiency in data analysis and financial acumen.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP MM module) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Fluent in both Korean and English (written and spoken) due to international supplier engagement.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related technical field.
  • Professional certification such as CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) or equivalent.
  • Experience with strategic sourcing methodologies and supplier relationship management (SRM) tools.
  • Familiarity with international trade regulations and customs procedures.
  • Experience in the steel or heavy industry manufacturing sector.
