Job Description
We are actively seeking highly skilled, dedicated, and safety-conscious Process Operators to augment our exceptional team at one of Kuwait National Petroleum Company’s (KNPC) world-class refineries located in Ahmadi. This pivotal role places you at the heart of our operations, where you will be instrumental in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable monitoring and control of complex refinery processes. Your responsibilities will span the full spectrum of operational duties, from the meticulous oversight of sophisticated equipment and advanced control systems (DCS) to proactive responses to process upsets and deviations. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control various refinery process units, including distillation, cracking, reforming, and treating, using advanced distributed control systems (DCS) and field instrumentation.
- Perform routine field checks, equipment inspections, and log readings to ensure operational parameters are within specified limits.
- Identify and troubleshoot process deviations, equipment malfunctions, and emergency situations, taking corrective actions promptly and safely.
- Initiate and participate in equipment start-up, shutdown, and changeover procedures according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Collect process samples for laboratory analysis and interpret results to maintain product quality specifications.
- Implement and adhere strictly to all safety regulations, environmental policies, and company procedures (e.g., Permit-to-Work, Lockout/Tagout).
- Collaborate effectively with shift supervisors, maintenance personnel, and other departments to ensure smooth and coordinated operations.
- Maintain accurate operational logs, shift reports, and documentation of process conditions and events.
- Participate in safety drills, emergency response training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Operate utility systems such as steam, water, and air, as required, to support refinery operations.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in operating Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and SCADA systems.
- Strong understanding of refinery process flows, chemical reactions, and equipment.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities under pressure.
- Thorough knowledge of industrial safety procedures and practices (e.g., confined space, hot work).
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, PFDs, and other technical drawings.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective teamwork and reporting.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in various weather conditions and industrial environments.
- High school diploma or equivalent, with technical certifications in process operations or related fields.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Associate's Degree in Chemical Engineering Technology, Process Technology, or a closely related discipline.
- Prior experience in a large-scale oil and gas refinery or petrochemical complex.
- Experience with SAP or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems for maintenance and operations.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations specific to the oil and gas industry.
