Career.supersecrets is thrilled to be recruiting on behalf of a prestigious private school client in Mokopane, Limpopo, for a dedicated and enthusiastic Private School Teaching Assistant. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play an integral part in the daily operations of the classroom, working with diverse age groups and subject matters, and ensuring every student receives the individualized attention they need to flourish.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the lead teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons across various subjects.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, addressing their individual learning needs.
  • Help prepare and organize classroom materials, resources, and learning aids.
  • Supervise students during classroom activities, breaks, and extracurricular events, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Assist in grading assignments, recording progress, and maintaining student records.
  • Support classroom management and foster a positive, inclusive, and disciplined learning environment.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and school administration regarding student progress and concerns.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) where applicable.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as required.
  • Help set up and tidy up the classroom before and after school hours.

Required Skills

  • Strong passion for education and working with children
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to student support
  • Good organizational and time management abilities
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite, email)
  • A foundational understanding of child development and learning principles

Preferred Qualifications

  • NQF Level 4 or 5 qualification in Education, ECD, or related field
  • Previous experience (1+ years) as a teaching assistant or similar role in a school setting
  • Knowledge of various teaching methodologies and educational technologies
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • Ability to speak an additional South African language relevant to the Limpopo region
