As a Primary School Aide, you will work closely with lead teachers to manage classroom activities, provide individualized attention to students, and ensure a safe and organized educational space. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the lead teacher with classroom management and instructional tasks, ensuring a smooth daily routine.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students requiring extra attention in reading, writing, mathematics, and other subjects.
- Prepare classroom materials, educational aids, bulletin boards, and learning stations as directed by the teacher.
- Supervise students during non-instructional times, including recess, lunch breaks, and transitions between activities, maintaining order and safety.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Assist with the implementation of lesson plans, educational activities, and special projects.
- Monitor student behavior and report any concerns or incidents to the lead teacher or school administration.
- Support students with special needs under the guidance of the teacher or special education coordinator, following established protocols.
- Facilitate positive social interactions and conflict resolution among students, promoting a harmonious classroom atmosphere.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with teachers, staff, and parents regarding student progress and well-being, as required.
Required Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with children aged 5-11.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
- Basic understanding of child development principles and educational best practices.
- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding student information and school matters.
- Proactive, adaptable, and resourceful in a fast-paced and ever-changing educational environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with primary school-aged children in an educational, childcare, or similar structured setting.
- A relevant certificate or diploma in Education, Child Development, Social Work, or a related field.
- Familiarity with local primary school curriculum standards and educational methodologies in Abia State.
- First Aid and CPR certification, or a willingness to obtain it shortly after hire.
