Job Description

Career.supersecrets is actively seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Primary Education Assistant to join our growing team in Dutse, Jigawa. This is a full-time position offering an immediate start for individuals eager to make a tangible difference in the lives of young learners. As a Primary Education Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our lead teachers and ensuring a stimulating and safe learning environment for students across various primary grades. You will be an integral part of our educational community, contributing directly to the academic progress and personal development of each child under our care.

Your day will be dynamic and engaging, involving a range of activities from assisting with lesson delivery and preparing educational materials to providing one-on-one student support and helping to manage classroom activities. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist lead teachers in preparing and delivering engaging lesson plans tailored to primary school curriculum.
  • Provide individualized and small group support to students, helping them grasp concepts and complete assignments.
  • Aid in managing classroom behavior, fostering a disciplined, respectful, and positive learning atmosphere.
  • Prepare educational materials, visual aids, and learning resources as directed by the lead teacher.
  • Supervise students during non-instructional periods such as recess, lunch, and transitions between activities.
  • Help maintain classroom organization, ensuring a tidy and conducive learning environment.
  • Assist with administrative tasks including record-keeping, attendance tracking, and grading student work.
  • Facilitate and support extracurricular activities and school events.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and behavior, under the guidance of the lead teacher.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students at all times.

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Profound patience and empathy when interacting with children.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic proficiency in computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude.
  • Enthusiasm and a genuine passion for primary education and child development.
  • Ability to adapt to various classroom situations and student needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • National Certificate in Education (NCE) or a Diploma in Education/Child Development.
  • At least 1 year of proven experience working in a primary school or similar educational setting.
  • Fluency in Hausa language (spoken and written) is a significant advantage.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience with differentiated instruction techniques.
