Key Responsibilities
- Accurately interpret blueprints, drawings, and design specifications to understand project requirements for POP ceiling installations.
- Prepare work surfaces by cleaning, leveling, and ensuring they are ready for installation.
- Measure, cut, and shape plaster of Paris (POP) sheets and cornices to precise dimensions using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Install metal or wooden support frames and securely attach POP panels to ceilings, ensuring proper alignment and seamless finishes.
- Apply plaster and finishing compounds to joints, seams, and corners, sanding surfaces to achieve a smooth, professional appearance.
- Repair and restore existing POP ceilings, identifying and addressing issues such as cracks, water damage, or aesthetic imperfections.
- Ensure all installations comply with local building codes, safety regulations, and the company's stringent quality standards.
- Collaborate effectively with architects, interior designers, site supervisors, and other skilled tradespersons to coordinate project phases.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly stored and in good working condition.
- Advise on material requirements and estimate quantities needed for various projects to minimize waste and ensure efficiency.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated expertise in POP (Plaster of Paris) ceiling installation, including false ceilings, cornices, and decorative elements.
- Proficiency in using a wide range of hand and power tools specific to POP installation (e.g., cutting tools, trowels, levels, drills).
- Strong ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, blueprints, and design specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for precision and aesthetic quality in finishing work.
- Good physical stamina and manual dexterity to perform demanding tasks, including working at heights and lifting materials.
- Basic mathematical skills for accurate measurements and calculations.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to all health and safety protocols.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
