Job Description

The South African Police Service is seeking highly motivated, disciplined, and community-oriented individuals to join our ranks as Police Officers in Kliprand, Northern Cape. This pivotal role is at the forefront of maintaining law and order, ensuring public safety, and building strong community relationships within the Kliprand area. As a Police Officer, you will be an integral part of our commitment to fighting crime and serving the community with dedication and integrity.

This is a dynamic role requiring a ‘Hybrid’ work model approach, recognizing that while core operational duties such as patrols, crime scene attendance, and direct community engagement are inherently on-site, a significant portion of the role involves administrative tasks, detailed report writing, strategic planning for community outreach programs, case file management, and specialized training modules that can be efficiently managed through flexible work arrangements, including remote access to systems or designated administrative periods at the station. This modern approach allows for enhanced productivity and officer well-being, while ensuring our visible presence and rapid response capabilities remain paramount. You will be expected to enforce laws, conduct investigations, respond to emergencies, and actively participate in community policing initiatives aimed at preventing crime. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct visible patrols to deter criminal activity, maintain public order, and respond to incidents.
  • Investigate criminal cases, gather evidence, interview witnesses, and compile comprehensive reports.
  • Apprehend and arrest suspects, adhering strictly to legal procedures and human rights protocols.
  • Respond to emergency calls, provide immediate assistance, and coordinate with other emergency services.
  • Engage with community members, participate in crime prevention initiatives, and foster positive police-community relations.
  • Prepare and submit detailed reports, affidavits, and dockets for prosecution.
  • Attend court proceedings and provide testimony as required.
  • Uphold the Code of Conduct and the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa at all times.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development programs.

Required Skills

  • South African Citizenship
  • Valid South African Identity Document
  • Minimum Grade 12 (Matric) Certificate or equivalent
  • No criminal record or pending cases
  • Valid driver's license (Code B or higher) is advantageous
  • Physical fitness and ability to pass fitness assessments
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving abilities
  • High level of integrity, honesty, and discipline
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and in challenging environments
  • Basic computer literacy for administrative tasks and report writing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in security services or community policing forums
  • A tertiary qualification in Law, Criminology, or Public Administration
  • Proficiency in additional official South African languages, particularly those prevalent in the Northern Cape.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
