Key Responsibilities
- Assist experienced plumbers with the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems and fixtures.
- Learn to identify, select, and safely use various plumbing tools and equipment.
- Prepare work sites by gathering materials, tools, and ensuring adherence to safety standards.
- Help with tasks such as cutting, threading, bending, and assembling pipes made from various materials (PVC, copper, galvanized steel).
- Observe and learn proper techniques for installing and repairing sinks, toilets, showers, water heaters, and other plumbing appliances.
- Assist in diagnosing plumbing issues, identifying leaks, blockages, and other malfunctions.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and best practices on job sites.
- Perform general labor duties as required, including trenching, cleaning up work areas, and transporting materials.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked work vehicle and personal toolkit under supervision.
- Actively participate in learning sessions and seek feedback for continuous improvement.
Required Skills
- Strong eagerness and commitment to learn the plumbing trade from the ground up.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 25 kg/55 lbs) repeatedly.
- Reliable, punctual, and possessing a strong, proactive work ethic.
- Basic aptitude for hands-on tasks and problem-solving.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and sometimes in confined spaces.
Preferred Qualifications
- Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) or equivalent foundational education.
- Basic mechanical understanding or prior experience with general repair work (e.g., car mechanics, basic home repairs).
- Residency within Bomet or immediate surrounding areas.
- Possession of a valid motorcycle or driving license (an added advantage, not mandatory).
