This involves routine servicing, fluid checks, filter replacements, and thorough inspections. Your ability to accurately diagnose issues using diagnostic equipment and your keen eye for potential problems before they escalate will be invaluable.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on a diverse fleet of heavy plant machinery.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic faults using modern diagnostic tools.
- Carry out effective and efficient repairs on site and in the workshop.
- Conduct pre-delivery inspections and post-repair testing to ensure operational readiness and safety.
- Maintain accurate service and repair records, including parts used and labour hours.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Order and manage spare parts efficiently to minimise downtime.
- Communicate effectively with site managers, operators, and colleagues regarding plant status and repair progress.
- Provide technical support and guidance to plant operators as required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Plant Mechanic or Heavy Vehicle Mechanic.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrics, and pneumatics.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematic diagrams.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment for fault finding.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to safe working practices and procedures.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Plant Maintenance, Construction Plant, or equivalent.
- Experience with specific plant manufacturers such as JCB, Caterpillar, Komatsu, Volvo.
- Welding and fabrication skills.
- HGV Class 1 or 2 Licence.
- IPAF / PASMA certification (desirable but not essential).
