Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pipeline Engineer to join our dynamic team at ADNOC Refining in Ruwais. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in the design, integrity management, and operational support of our extensive network of pipelines, which are vital for transporting crude oil, refined products, and gas across our complex. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all pipeline systems, adhering strictly to international standards, industry best practices, and ADNOC’s stringent safety regulations. This role involves a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving, and project management, working collaboratively with various departments including operations, maintenance, projects, and HSE. You will contribute to the entire lifecycle of our pipelines, from conceptual design and engineering specifications to construction supervision, commissioning, and ongoing integrity assessments. Your contributions will directly impact the operational efficiency and long-term sustainability of our world-class refining and petrochemical facilities in Ruwais, ensuring the uninterrupted flow of resources crucial for our national and international commitments. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead or participate in the conceptual design, Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), and detailed engineering of new pipeline projects and modifications to existing systems.
  • Develop, review, and approve pipeline specifications, standards, procedures, and integrity management plans, ensuring alignment with ADNOC's strategic objectives.
  • Conduct comprehensive pipeline stress analysis, hydraulic calculations, material selection, and sophisticated corrosion prevention strategies.
  • Perform advanced integrity assessments, robust risk analyses, and detailed fitness-for-service evaluations for existing pipelines, identifying potential issues proactively.
  • Oversee construction, installation, testing, and commissioning activities for pipeline projects, ensuring stringent compliance with specifications, budget, schedule, and safety protocols.
  • Provide expert technical support and rapid troubleshooting for operational pipeline issues, including advanced leak detection, efficient pigging operations, and effective repair methodologies.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with multi-disciplinary teams (operations, maintenance, projects, HSE) to ensure flawless integration and safe operation of pipeline systems across the Ruwais complex.
  • Monitor pipeline performance metrics, meticulously analyze inspection data (e.g., In-Line Inspection – ILI, Non-Destructive Testing – NDT), and recommend proactive remedial actions or preventative maintenance programs.
  • Ensure all pipeline activities strictly comply with ADNOC Group policies, relevant local regulations, and international industry standards (e.g., API, ASME, NACE).
  • Prepare concise technical reports, engaging presentations, and actively participate in critical technical reviews and audits to maintain high operational standards.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in pipeline engineering within the oil & gas or petrochemical industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of pipeline design codes (ASME B31.4, B31.8), international standards, and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency in pipeline engineering software (e.g., Caesar II, AutoPipe, OLGA, PIPESIM) for design and analysis.
  • Strong understanding of pipeline integrity management principles, including corrosion mechanisms, defect assessment, and repair techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience with pigging operations, hydrostatic testing, and pre-commissioning/commissioning of pipelines.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a focus on safety and efficiency.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively in a multicultural team environment.
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken) is essential for technical communication.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., Pipeline Engineering, Materials Science).
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
  • Experience with sour gas pipelines and associated material and operational challenges.
  • Certification in pipeline integrity (e.g., API 570, NACE CP Level 2/3, CSWIP).
  • Project management experience in large-scale pipeline infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with UAE specific regulations, environmental standards, and local practices.
