Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Physiotherapist to join our dynamic team at the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This rotational post offers an exceptional opportunity for a Band 5 or developing Band 6 Physiotherapist to gain broad experience across various specialities, including musculoskeletal outpatients, orthopaedics, neurology, respiratory, and general medical/surgical wards. You will be instrumental in assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with a wide range of physical conditions, helping them to regain movement, reduce pain, and improve their overall quality of life.
Working as an integral part of multidisciplinary teams, you will develop individualised treatment programmes, utilising a diverse range of physiotherapy techniques such as manual therapy, exercise prescription, electrotherapy, and patient education. You will be responsible for managing your own caseload, prioritising effectively, and maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient records. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive physiotherapy assessments to accurately diagnose patients' conditions and determine appropriate treatment pathways.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualised treatment plans, utilising a variety of evidence-based physiotherapy techniques.
- Manage a diverse caseload of patients across various specialities, prioritising effectively and adapting treatment as required.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, and social workers, to ensure integrated patient care.
- Educate patients and their families on their conditions, treatment plans, and self-management strategies.
- Maintain accurate, concise, and timely patient records in accordance with Trust policy and professional standards.
- Participate in regular supervision, in-service training, and continuous professional development activities.
- Contribute to service development, clinical audits, and quality improvement initiatives within the physiotherapy department.
- Supervise and mentor junior staff, students, and support workers as appropriate.
- Adhere to all local and national policies, procedures, and professional codes of conduct, including HCPC standards.
Required Skills
- BSc (Hons) or Pre-registration MSc in Physiotherapy
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Demonstrable clinical experience post-qualification (e.g., as part of a rotational scheme or equivalent)
- Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Effective caseload management and organisational abilities
- Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a variety of acute and community settings (e.g., MSK, neuro, respiratory, orthopaedics)
- Participation in relevant post-graduate courses or specialist interest groups
- Experience of supervising students or junior staff
- Familiarity with NHS IT systems and electronic patient records
