Key Responsibilities
- Process prescriptions accurately and efficiently under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.
- Assist patients with prescription drop-off and pick-up, ensuring a smooth and pleasant experience.
- Manage patient profiles, including updating personal information, insurance details, and medication histories.
- Answer phone calls and address patient questions or direct them to the Pharmacist when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate inventory of medications, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating stock.
- Ensure the pharmacy workspace is clean, organized, and compliant with all state and federal regulations, including HIPAA.
- Operate point-of-sale systems, handle cash, and process various payment methods.
- Assist in resolving insurance rejection issues and processing third-party claims.
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing patient concerns with empathy and professionalism.
- Participate in pharmacy workflow management to optimize efficiency and patient wait times.
Required Skills
- Current and valid California Pharmacy Technician License.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Proven ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic mathematical proficiency for prescription calculations.
- Familiarity with pharmacy terminology and medication names.
- Proficiency in computer systems and point-of-sale software.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality (HIPAA compliance).
Preferred Qualifications
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification (e.g., PTCB or NHA).
- Previous experience (1+ years) working as a Pharmacy Technician in a retail setting.
- Experience with CVS Pharmacy systems and procedures.
- Bilingual abilities (especially Spanish) are a plus, to better serve our diverse community.
