Key Responsibilities
- Dispense prescriptions accurately and efficiently, ensuring patient safety and adherence to all regulatory requirements.
- Provide comprehensive medication counseling, including proper use, potential side effects, and drug interactions.
- Administer immunizations and other injections as per provincial regulations and company policies.
- Conduct medication reviews (MedsCheck, etc.) to optimize drug therapy and enhance patient outcomes.
- Offer specialized advice and support for chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, asthma, hypertension).
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate integrated patient care.
- Oversee and mentor pharmacy assistants and technicians, ensuring high standards of practice and teamwork.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality in accordance with privacy laws.
- Participate in health promotion initiatives and community outreach programs.
- Manage pharmacy operations, including inventory control, ordering, and ensuring compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- Licensed and in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP)
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (B.Sc.Pharm) from an accredited institution
- Strong clinical knowledge and understanding of pharmacology and therapeutics
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-first approach
- Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Proficiency in pharmacy management software systems
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a high-volume community pharmacy setting (2+ years post-licensure)
- Additional training or certification in specialized areas such as immunization, diabetes education, or travel health
- Experience with pharmacy technology and automation
- Fluency in French is an asset for serving diverse patient populations
