Key Responsibilities
- Assist licensed pharmacists in the accurate and timely dispensing of medications, including receiving and verifying prescriptions, retrieving, counting, pouring, weighing, and measuring pharmaceutical products.
- Maintain precise and confidential patient profiles and prescription records, ensuring all information is consistently up-to-date and compliant with privacy regulations.
- Execute comprehensive pharmacy inventory management, including systematic ordering, careful receiving, strategic stocking, and regular rotation of pharmaceutical products and over-the-counter (OTC) items to minimize waste and ensure product availability.
- Conduct routine checks for expired medications and facilitate their safe and proper disposal in strict adherence to established pharmaceutical guidelines and environmental regulations.
- Deliver exemplary customer service by warmly greeting patients, effectively addressing general inquiries, and skillfully directing specific medical or pharmaceutical questions to the supervising pharmacist.
- Accurately process patient transactions utilizing the point-of-sale (POS) system and diligently handle cash or electronic payments, ensuring precision in all financial operations.
- Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and organization throughout the pharmacy premises, including meticulous care of shelves, counters, dispensing areas, and waiting zones.
- Assist in the precise preparation of prescription labels, ensuring all necessary patient information, dosage instructions, and cautionary notes are clearly and accurately included.
- Adhere strictly to all national and local health, safety, and pharmacy regulations, as well as internal company policies and procedures.
- Provide essential support in various administrative tasks such as accurate filing, comprehensive record-keeping, and efficient scheduling as directed by the pharmacy manager or supervising pharmacist.
- Actively participate in ongoing professional development and training programs designed to enhance pharmaceutical knowledge, practical skills, and compliance with evolving industry standards.
Required Skills
- Minimum of OND/HND/B.Sc. in a relevant science or health-related field (e.g., Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biology, or a Pharmacy Technician Certificate).
- Proven experience of at least 18 months as a Pharmacist Assistant or in a closely related support role within a reputable retail pharmacy setting.
- Strong foundational understanding of pharmaceutical terminology, common drug names, and various dosage forms.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, consistently demonstrating a patient-first and empathetic approach.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, and practical experience with pharmacy management software (e.g., POS systems).
- Demonstrated high level of accuracy, meticulous attention to detail, and thoroughness in all assigned tasks.
- Proven ability to work effectively and maintain composure in a fast-paced, high-volume, and demanding retail healthcare environment.
- Superior organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Unwavering commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and strict adherence to ethical standards in all aspects of work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician or possession of an equivalent professional qualification from a recognized institution.
- Previous direct experience with HealthPlus Pharmacy's specific operating procedures, inventory systems, and customer service protocols.
- Working knowledge of health insurance processes, claims submission, and billing procedures prevalent in the Nigerian healthcare landscape.
- Fluency in additional local Nigerian languages to better serve our diverse patient base.
