Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Petroleum Engineer to join our growing team in Maputo, Mozambique. This is a critical role responsible for optimizing the production and recovery of hydrocarbons from our Mozambican assets. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the full lifecycle of our oil and gas fields, from development planning and reservoir management to production optimization and well interventions. You will utilize your expertise in reservoir engineering, production engineering, and well performance analysis to ensure efficient and safe operations, maximizing asset value while adhering to the highest industry standards and environmental regulations. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to significant energy projects in a vibrant and developing region, working alongside a diverse and skilled international team. You will be expected to provide technical guidance, troubleshoot complex operational challenges, and implement innovative solutions to enhance productivity and achieve operational targets. Your insights will directly influence strategic decisions regarding field development and resource allocation, making this a high-impact role within our organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed reservoir engineering studies, including material balance, decline curve analysis, and numerical simulation, to forecast production and optimize recovery.
  • Develop and implement production optimization strategies, identifying opportunities for improved well performance and reduced operational costs.
  • Design and evaluate well intervention programs, including workovers, stimulations, and artificial lift installations.
  • Monitor and analyze production data, identifying trends, anomalies, and potential issues to ensure optimal field performance.
  • Participate in field development planning, collaborating with geoscientists, drilling engineers, and operations teams.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and economic evaluations to support decision-making processes.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and regulations.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related field (e.g., Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering with petroleum specialization).
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in petroleum engineering roles, preferably in an operating company.
  • Strong understanding of reservoir engineering principles, production operations, and wellbore hydraulics.
  • Proficiency in reservoir simulation software (e.g., Petrel, Eclipse, CMG) and production optimization tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience with unconventional resources or gas condensate fields.
  • Proficiency in Portuguese.
  • Project management experience in the oil and gas sector.
