Key Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Verify and input employee timecard data, ensuring compliance with company policies and labor laws.
- Calculate and process various payroll deductions, including taxes, benefits, and garnishments.
- Reconcile payroll data and resolve any discrepancies or issues promptly.
- Prepare and submit federal and state payroll tax filings (e.g., 941s, W-2s) and other regulatory reports.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and employee files in a confidential manner.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and tax withholdings with professionalism and clarity.
- Collaborate with Human Resources and Accounting departments on payroll-related matters.
- Stay updated on changes in payroll laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Assist with month-end and year-end payroll close processes.
- Generate payroll reports for management and auditing purposes.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of direct payroll processing experience
- Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Workday, UKG)
- Strong knowledge of federal and state payroll laws and regulations
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Experience with healthcare payroll processing
- Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation
- Experience with general ledger reconciliation related to payroll
